My first Heartwarming

Sylvie always sighed over love stories that seemed to fall into place with such ease. Especially since she had a habit of falling for Mr. Wrong.- Roz Denny Fox from The Hope Dress

Loved this story! As most of you already know, I just returned from a family vacation to Disneyland, where we celebrated my son's 3rd birthday. In a nutshell, the trip was fantastic-the lines were surprisingly shorter than expected, my son was the best behaved child I've ever seen, I got to enjoy my first experience of Disney with both my own child AND my parents (how cool is that?) and lastly, the six hour plane rides to and fro allowed me the uninterupted peace to read Roz Denny Fox's The Hope Dress.

This beautiful lovestory about Sylvie Shea, a wedding dress designer with a broken heart and Joel Mercer, a single dad, comic strip creator was so wonderfully crafted, I truly felt like I knew these people at the end of the story. The secondary characters were fun and unique-from Joel's sweet, adorable daughter, Rianne to Sylvie's meddling mother and younger sisters. I love Sylvie's resistance to being set up, yet the underlying everlasting tinge of hope that she may someday wear a wedding dress of her own. And Joel's support and encouragement to her is definitely fall-in-love worthy:)

And the ending-perfect is the only word to describe it...and I won't spoil it for those of you who have yet to read it, but Roz-amazing ending:)

So far, I am loving this line! Thanks Roz for making those six hours on a plane just soar on by with your beautifully crafted story!

  1. Wow, Jennifer---I feel I should pay you for promotion you can't buy if you try. That said, I'm glad you had a great trip to Disneyland. I've been hearing things about how it's so expensive now and the lines, horribly long. Good to know that families can go and still have a great vacation. When my kids were little we went there a lot. My sister taught school in the area and school staff in the area could purchase "a key to the magic kingdom" For one set price you could open and close the place for a day and ride as many things as many times as you could fit in. The kids had their favorites. Mine was always Pirates of the Caribbean.
About Heartwarming---I have a subscription and can't wait to rave about everyone's books.

  2. Hi Roz, the story was brilliant:)

Disneyland was expensive and some of the lines for the adult rides were ridiculously long (two hours), but the smaller kid's rides for my son weren't as busy. We saw a bunch of school kids and camp kids on fieldtrips and my son said-when I go to school, I'll get to come here too lol:) I didn't remind him that we don't live in Anaheim lol. I wanted to do the Pirates ride, but that line-up WAS really long...maybe next time.
Anyway, can't wait for your next release:)

  3. I love the Pirate ride too. We were there last summer. We spent a lot of time in the single rider lines. It helped, especially in Car Land.

Roz, your books are always awesome. I still love the urn story Wish I'd thought of that.

And I remember your story about Denny driving you to a ghost town.

    1. My little guy was too short for most of the Cars Land rides this year, but we are planning to go again in a few years.

  4. Jen - sounds like a wonderful trip! We lived in L.A. for a while, and Disneyland is where Ron always wanted to go for his birthday. Pirates of the Caribbean (2 r's and 1 b?) was our favorite, too. We used to get beignets somewhere near there that were so delicious! Haven't read The Hope Dress, but Roz is one of my favorite authors and I'm a very discerning reader!

    1. Hi Karen,

That's kind of what we are hoping to do too. Take Jacob at various stages of life, so he can enjoy different things. Some people told us he was too young to go this time, that he wouldn't remember it-but he hasn't stopped talking about it and his enjoyment while we were there will be forever in MY memory, so it was definitely worthwhile:)

  6. Hey Jennifer,

Welcome back! Glad you had a great time. I went as a kid and loved it. We really need to take our boys before they're too old (if that's possible ;).

I already have The Hope Dress downloaded on my kindle for PC (yes, I need a real ereader). Your awesome review has made me even more excited about reading it!

  8. Jennifer, welcome back! I'm in love with all things Disney and even worked at Walt Disney World for six months in their college internship program. Glad to hear you and your family had a great time.

As for Roz's book, it's in my pile of books just begging me to read. If I didn't have to sleep, maybe I'd finally catch up! Can't wait to get to her book, especially after your wonderful words!
