What Pam Does When She Isn't Writing

I knew this would be a great camping trip when I saw the double rainbow.

Our regular spot was taken, but I think this one was even better.

Once I tied Lucy up, I had to make sure there were no mushrooms within rope distance.

My son got busy making sure his bed was camp ready.

And then we were off to explore!

My husband said this is where hunter's hang their catch in order to clean it.
What we found next made me a believer.

I was fascinated by the teeth.
Not sure where the rest of the truck is, but hubby thinks it was a Ford.

Trees growing out of rock always fascinate me.

I am the only person I know who can take off to find a moment of privacy and actually stumble across a handmade toilet in the middle of nowhere.
Note:  I didn't use it.

Believe it or not, we ran into people we knew.
They also had kids.
Not sure which  hand is Mike's.
No, he didn't get to keep the snake.
Or the Elk skull.
Or the handmade toilet.

Lucy's ready to leave.
She even offered to drive.

Two tired youngsters.

I took my laptop, but it broke on day one.  So revisions didn't get accomplished, but as you can see, I got plenty of ideas for a future book.

What do you do when your laptop breaks?

Pamela's next book, which involves lots of Heartwarming authors,
is available in November.

  1. First, I'd freak out if my laptop broke, Pam. After the shock, I'd have to break out a pad of paper and my favorite pen. Great photos! I love the shot of Lucy in the driver's seat. :)

    1. It froze even fourth word I typed, So frustrating. Pad and paper wouldn't do as I was doing revisions. Books done.

  2. Thanks for sharing your camping memories and pictures, Pamela. I hope all four of you had a terrific time.

I agree with Jill about the laptop. If mine broke, I'd have to borrow my husband's.

Lucy looks gorgeous and your son is darn cute, too!

    1. Lucy is an amazing dog who loves to eat toothbrushes. She must have the cleanest doggy teeth ever.

  3. Love the pics, Pam, but sorry about the laptop. Mine didn't break, but I did lose the file for my WIP when I tried to use the jump drive and hit the wrong button (no second chances on laptops, obviously). I worked from memory and wrote pages to add when I got home. It worked well, but was weird not being able to refer back.

  4. Pam, I love double rainbows. The Elk Skull would look nice in your front yard (lol) The homemade toilet was a hoot. Sorry about the laptop. I used to use an Alphasmart on trips. It ran on regular batteries. I've never had a laptop, but a pain when anything goes wrong with work device. We needed to see you as a happy camper.

  5. I have an Alpha Smart :) Haven't used it in years.
Now that I've an iPad, I'm a happy girl. I'll never go back to HP.

    1. Hi, Pam! Sorry I'm in the reply spot - working on laptop keyboard because actual keyboard has lost all its letter from overwork. (I know sort of where they are, but still mess up.) Anyway - wouldn't let me click where I wanted to - so here I am, taking up your words. I use pen and yellow pad a lot, but hate when anything happens to my laptop. It's become like another cat, only usually much more cooperative. Loved your photos - happy you have fun sometimes. Beautiful son, adorable dog, a blessing of a rainbow!

  6. Looks like a great camping trip! :) I haven't had my laptop break yet... I always replace it when things start to look shaky, so I haven't had to deal with that emotional upheaval. I'm glad you managed. ;)

  7. What fun. I've only seen double rainbows maybe three or four times in my life. Sorry about your laptop. Maybe it was fate telling you to take time off to play.

More likely Fate telling me I've too many spoons in the pot. I love camping.

  8. My laptop just broke too so I'm taking a forced break and learning how much I can do on an iPhone. But when it's not forced, I love a paper book.

  9. I have TWO Alpha Smart processors! (Talk about a back up!) Trimmer in hands prevents pen and ink. Easy transfer to my desktop where I can edit the writings. YOU had a great trip. Glad you had a chance to commune with nature and your family. That's important stuff, you know.

  10. Your trip looks like it was fun -- even though I'm not the camping out type. Of course, the best part is being with your family. Sorry about the laptop. Glad you got your revisions done.

  12. Wow, Pam, I loved this fantastic travelogue. Your son is just too adorable. Wanna share? And if my laptop broke, I'd be in the loony bin. I would not handle this well at all.

  13. I'm up past ten on a school night because of that stupid laptop. I'm ready for the loony bin for sure.

  15. Hi Pam, Sorry I missed this yesterday. Looks like you were up on the rim. And what treasures. Love the toilet. LOL I bet it is in one of your future books. Love the photo of the two sound asleep. You know you were busy to see that boy sitting quiet.
