Winter Weddings by Amy Vastine

Weddings - who doesn't love a wedding? They are usually in the summer when the days are long and the flowers are in full bloom no matter where you live. But I am also a fan of winter weddings. Churches are always decorated so beautifully for the holidays (helping the bride and groom cut costs) and there are so many fun things to do with a winter wedding theme like a horse-drawn sleigh to ride off in!
I love a good wedding no matter what the time of year. I am a sucker for happy ever after - so seeing where that happy begins just fills my heart, and usually my eyes with tears! So why would I write an entire series about stopping weddings? Well, because I also love a good conflict. I began to imagine all the different reasons someone might call off a wedding and the stories exploded out of my brain. I knew I had to write them.

This January, my first book in the series, A BRIDESMAID TO REMEMBER, comes out and I could not be more excited. I have to credit my former editor, Claire Caldwell with the idea. She posed the questions - what if you started a story with the wedding getting called off? What would be fallout for everyone involved? Why did it happen? Who would end up together in the end? I LOVED the idea and ran with it.

Bonnie is my heroine in this new story and she is the maid of honor at the biggest wedding event her small town has ever seen. Her best friend is basically royalty in Blue Springs, CA, and everyone in town can't wait to catch a glimpse of the happy couple. Unfortunately, the groom has an announcement to make ... he's in love with Bonnie. Whoops! Let the drama begin.

I cannot wait for people to get their hands on this book. It was one of my favorites to write and I hope readers will love it just as much.

Anyone have an interesting wedding story to share? I've never been to one that's been called off but I have heard some hilarious best man speeches in my day!

Share with me your funny wedding story and then go grab your copy of A BRIDESMAID TO REMMEBER. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

This bridesmaid’s been blacklisted…

So why is he risking everything for her?

It was the perfect wedding—until the groom spontaneously announces he’s in love with bridesmaid Bonnie Windsor! Now Bonnie’s being ostracized by the entire town. The only person willing to stand up for her? The bride’s superhandsome brother, Aaron Cole. And he’ll risk everything—including his family—to prove that this pretty woman deserves a happily-ever-after of her own.

  1. Nice post--I agree with you about winter weddings. There's something about candlelight and fireplaces and snow covered trees--even the dark of a late afternoon January or February wedding. For the same reason, when A FAMILY FOR JASON ended on Thanksgiving, I had Ruby and Mike announce their Dec. 31st wedding at the covered bridge. I couldn't resist a wedding in the snow--reception inside, though!

  2. My folks got married a few days before Christmas, but I don't think they used winter or Christmas decor. As a kid I did think it was unfair that Christmas, a few birthdays and an anniversary were so close together. What kid has enough money for gifts for that many events?

  3. The most beautiful wedding I ever attended was a Christmas wedding with red bridesmaid dresses and the church filled with poinsettias. (Sadly, the marriage didn't last, though.) Can't wait to read the book. Poor Bonnie!
