I Don't Just Write....

Pamela Tracy here....

To many I'm just a name, another blogger, another writer, someone who makes a tiny blip on the radar screen a few times a day, week, month, year, lifetime.

But who am I?

I'm someone who is a morning person by necessity but a late night person by nature.

I'm someone who wears many hats.

This morning I took off my teacher hat and ran to the computer because it was my turn to blog.  In a moment, I'll take off my blogger hat and put on my wife hat and kiss my husband goodbye (No, not forever. He's just going to work)

Then, I'll have to choose:  teacher hat or showerer hat.  I've still four essays to grade and I'd like to get them done before I go to work where I start grading the second English 101 stack of essays.  On the other hand, a hot shower would be nice.

Of course, there's the mother hat.  I must wake Mike (my ten year old) up.

Most mornings, I wear my writer's hat.  I really, really, really, wanted to this morning.  I'm working on one and researching skeletons discovered in the desert.  Ohhhhhh.

Oh, I can't forget my cat-owner hat. Tyre my seven-toed cat demanded that I feed him before I sat down to blog.  Never mind that my husband woke up at the exact same time.  No one but MOM is allowed to feed him.

Done with the morning routine, I get to put on my chef hat.  Those who know me will squint and laugh.  Breakfast with Pam (not a TV show) is either cereal, poptarts (AKA breakfast of champions) or pre-made pancakes.  By the way, 90% of all my books mention a pancake.  Including the one I'm writing now that has a skeleton.

Once breakfast is finished, cleaned up (Yeah, right) and we're dressed and packed (My purse two pounds, my son's backpack twenty pounds) we're off to school.  I, of course, am wearing my chauffeur hat.

Then, I head to work.  Because it's Monday I stop at Fry's and buy stuff for my work refrigerator.  Our cafeteria must have purchased the Pamela Tracy Cookbook because it's bad....  and only sells cold poptarts.

This morning, I'll wind up at my desk with the next class's essays, plus the four I didn't get to this morning.

Grade, grade, grade, grade....

Then, teach, teach, teach

Then will come the texts:  R U picking up Mike?  No, U R.  I M still at work.  Off I'll go to pick up Mike and it will be a big smile.

Monday's are actually one of the nicest days of the week.  There are no writers meetings (mine tend to fall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays).  Mike chose not to do Little League (Mom liked it better than he did).

We're having spaghetti tonight (I can cook that - boil noodles, pre-made sauce, add hamburger)

There will be homework for Mike (fractions!!!!!!  There's a reason I teach English.  Commas behave!)

Then, I'll sit down and write until my eyes drop or my husband says, in his seductive voice... "Come watch television with me"

I haven't watched Saturday's Outlander yet!

Pamela Tracy on a good day

Pamela's April 2015 Love Inspired release FINALLY A HERO available today.  Really!  Go to Amazon and buy it!

Pamela's June book is a Harlequin Heartwarming.  It's good reading, too.

Last weekend, Pamela's puppet team took a gold at Youth Leadership Training in Christ in Tucson Arizona.  Yippee.

This blog was written by a busy and content woman.  No books were harmed in the making of this blog.

    1. I directed two puppet plays, one drama, and my son also entered two art projects. So, Adrienne, my lovely editor, if you're reading this, my life so gets in the way of writing, but really, the puppets were so well behaved.

  2. Dear Pam, that is so you – competing with “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins.” I remember in your story “Holiday Homecoming” pancakes are often mentioned. Great blog!

    1. Marion, yes, pancakes were mentioned a lot there, but I meant to type poptarts. I love poptarts.

  3. Pam, you wear all of those hats so well and I'm sure there are some you forgot to mention. Congrats on your team's win. Please can some of your energy rub off on me?

  4. Wow! Where do you get the energy to do all that? :-) Would love to see your puppet show and Congrats on the win. Pancakes and skeletons. Can't wait to read it.

    1. Patricia, when you have a ten year old, there isn't a choice.

  5. I love you, Pam! I feel your pain. My daughter once asked me if I was crazy because why would I take two classes, write books, work with kids who need counseling all day, and then do EVERYTHING at home for the family. I agreed it would be nice if everyone at home chipped in a little more. But I really wouldn't want to give anything else up except those blasted chores and (like you) cooking dinner!

    1. Amy, I knew the first time I met you that we were kindred spirits. And really, I was heartbroken when Mike didn't play Little League. I love baseball. Mike wants to be a diver. So, now I'm looking for a swim club. He's good and fearless.

    1. LOL, if you only saw me in a bathing suit, you'd know why I'm staying underwater and not afloat.

  7. Pam - you're as good at putting a smile on my face as my first cup of tea! Congratulations on the energy that fuels you to do all that you do, and happily! What a gift. Congratulations also on the puppet team win. I'm sure a lot of effort went into that and it's great when that's appreciated and acknowledged. I'm with Patricia. Pancakes and skeletons are an intriguing mix. Take a breath, Woman.

    1. Muriel,
Sigh, by the time I finished the blog, I didn't have time for the shower or grading. LOL, in my world, taking a breath takes too much time. But, hey, what a ride.

  8. Wow!! That's some schedule. I continue to say I appreciate writers, especially females because they have to wear so many hats, and yet somehow they can still clear their minds enough to sit down and write a story. Thank you, and kudos to you for everything you manage to do.

    1. Laurie, lol, last week was even busier. And, tomorrow, ack. I leave work (one side of town) pick up Mike from school (other side of town) drive him to a doctor's appointment (back to original side of town). If life is perfect, hubby will meet me at the doctor's and take Mike home so that I can go to a meeting (editor from Harlequin speaking) in yet a different town. I'll bounce from Scottsdale, to Phoenix, to Scottsdale, to Phoenix, to Glendale, and then back to Scottsdale. It's why I do books on tape. And, why I hate when gas is over 3.00.

  9. Oh Pam!!! You made me snort! Put I completely understand how you feel. Or at least I did. My baby graduated last year and moved out. Now that I'm an empty nester, I feel like my life should get a little easier, but no. Between teaching full time, running and teaching a gymnastics facility and writing, I still feel like I don't know which end is up. I'm afraid you have me beat in the cooking department. Someday I'll learn how. Really. So cheers to you and your many hats and I'm soooo glad you manage to put the writer's hat on so often. It makes my down time so much more enjoyable. :)

    1. LeAnne, glad you stopped by. I always thought the older I got, the more free time I'd get. Nope. BTW, I didn't know you ran a gymnastics facility. You rock!

  10. I loved this. I remember days being that busy and though I don't miss them--much--I loved them when they were here!

  11. I do love every day. This morning we had the "Comb you hair" discussion but he went to school with hair that definitely looked uncombed. He brushes his teeth in 2 m.s of a second! And, to my chagrin, we've gone back to being a Pokeman collector. I miss the lego days.

  12. Pam, you are a busy lady! I remember those days when I taught school and wrote books, too. A real challenge. Looking forward to reading your new book.

  13. I can relate--I have worn several hats already today too, plus I went to the dentist! I think your June release looks good, looking forward to it! Thanks!

  14. Holden,
So glad you're looking forward to it. The dentist is on my list of things to do. He keeps dropping to the bottom LOL, wonder why?
