While parts of the nation are finally finished with a snowy
winter, it’s about time to celebrate spring. The sun is shining and the days
are warm enough for short sleeves, shorts and flip-flops (at least here in
Florida.) Azalea’s are blooming, which means other plants are starting to bloom
as well.
I’ve always loved the beginning of spring. I know we
celebrate new beginnings around the first of the year, but as spring brightens the
world around me, I can finally see what
the new year has to offer. I’m filled with expectation and ready to get out in
the yard and tend to the things of nature. There’s a spring in my step, if that
doesn’t sound too cliché. (Blame the writer in me.)
My time is also filled with new writing projects as well. How
I love sitting at my dining room table, typing away while the door leading to
the porch is wide open. I hear the birds singing, which is always a treat. The
sun is shining and the temperatures are rising. The days are getting longer. As
the wind blows, leaves rustle, and I’m reminded of new growth and new possibilities.
Does anyone else enjoy the rite of spring?
This Sunday is Easter. More than just a day of bunnies and
candy for some folks, it can be a day of reflection. I hope you and your family
have a special day together and look forward to the beautiful days to come.
I'm so there with you! We were just in Florida and got to see the azaleas. They are so beautiful--if a little messy. :-) We had 70 degrees yesterday, and I was wearing flipflops and capris. Heaven!
ReplyDeleteYes it is!
DeleteMy magnolia tree is starting to bud, and some brave shoots are forcing their way up through the soil, but everything here is still brown and mostly dormant. Your vivid description makes me long to be sitting at your dining room table with you, Tara!
ReplyDeleteYou're always welcome!
DeleteWishing everyone a happy April with many blooms!
ReplyDeleteSpring is a special time here in the southwest. All of our desert flowers are starting to bloom and make yellow and purple carpets across the flats. I love spring for my early morning walks. Just a little crisp with the bluest blue sky. A time to reflect like you said, Tara.
ReplyDeleteSpring in Arizona means the song birds that migrate to our warmer climate for the winter will be leaving along with the snowbirds. But, as Roz mentioned, the desert blooms and that's always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteArizona must be beautiful. Maybe one day I'll get there.
DeleteSpring in North Mississippi means buttercups (recently learned what I call buttercups are actually daffodils) and azaleas and dogwoods are in full bloom. Also my yard is filled with wild violets and dandelions. After the past two winters, spring is my favorite time of year, replacing autumn.
ReplyDeleteI agree with changing spring to my favorite season. I love lots of color!
DeleteIn drought-ridden California, we've had spring for several weeks now. Love it, but we need the rain.
ReplyDeleteWe've been in that position many times in Florida. I know how you feel.
DeleteI wish I could say my daffodils are going to be okay...but they are saying we are to have SNOW on Good Friday night. It won't last, but I am so wishful for a real spring! I feel for Melinda, half my husband's family and a lot of my friends are in LA and they need the rain so badly!!! Happy Easter to all!
ReplyDeleteNo snow! Yikes.
DeleteAh, yes, spring! Still cool here in TN but the daffodils are blooming, also the Bradford pears, dogwood and redbuds. Saw a picture yesterday of AZ in full bloom. Love it there! Happy Easter to all.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely.
DeleteI can imagine myself at your dining room table, Tara. I think we should hit the eastern seaboard and make a westward sweep until we've collected all of us and are having Easter brunch at my house! (Someone else has to cook.) These are holy days for us. I think every spring flower reminds us of the Resurrection. Happy Easter everybody!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome plan!
DeleteTara, pretty photos! I love spring, too. We're having an amazing one here in the Pacific NW! I hate to mention it when so much of the nation has been in the throes of winter for-seemingly-ever!! Daffodils and tulips have been up for a while--now the lilacs are starting. Love this sunshine...
ReplyDeleteLove lilacs!
DeleteFor me it is daffodils. They are inspirational
