Just Another December

Howdy All,
Christmas is by far my favorite holiday.  Okay, maybe Christmas and Halloween are tied.
This year, though, Christmas is a little different because my puppy (horse) is over a year and even more into everything.

Before Lucy destroys everything, she must do the tango with Don!

What do you mean this Christmas Tree isn't for me to destroy?
This year, too, my son is on Dive Team.  In Arizona, dive meets happen all year round, and outside, too.  This weekend we had one both Saturday and Sunday morning.  Now, at 7:45 a.m. when my son hit the water, it was cold.  Worse, Saturday morning, I'd forgotten to pack him a towel.  Yup, I remember snacks, water, extra clothes...  So, I ran to Walmart and bought a towel.  When I got back to the meet, somehow the towel hadn't made it to my bag.  Needless to say, I was not a "popular" mom at that freezing moment.  You ever have moments like these?

Ice optional

This coming Friday is my 11-year-old's class party.  Because I have so much free time, I volunteered to be room mother.  (BTW, free-time is what is carved out of grading papers at midnight and writing 500 words instead of 1000 of your daily Harlequin Heartwarming next book word count - Oh, and I haven't cooked in three weeks unless you count barbecue warmed up in a tub).  Yesterday I went to Michaels.  I love Michaels.  My wallet didn't love Michaels.

We're making the pinecone people.  I also ordered Barbie Doll high heels (gotta love eBay) and skateboards.  We're going to glue them to the feet (I thought the kids would love it).  I have Santa hats.  I also bought paints so we can paint the faces and stick on eyes.  Me, being bossy, nixed the idea of me doing the craft with 24 wiggling, sugar-high-filled 11 and 12 year olds and asked that there be three more parents and we work with groups of six.  I believe in management.

Today the other carpool mom isn't driving, so it's me.  It's finals week where I teach.  I'm working on another Heartwarming and having sooooooo much fun.  Oh, and I'm 90% done with my Christmas shopping.

So, how is your week going?

Merry Christmas

  1. Oh, I remember those days so well -- crazy, busy, but fun. You're right, the kids will love that craft. Good luck with all you have to do. I'm enjoying a quiet holiday season and loving it. Best of luck in getting everything done, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    1. Thanks Patty, and I know you remember those days. I could do a craft with 24 if they were my students, but I don't know half the names LOL and I can't pronounce the other half. It's great fun

  2. That craft is fantastic, and you are fantastic---missed towel or not. I do remember those mornings at dive meets, because my youngest was an AAU diver when we lived in Phoenix. I feel for you. Hope your weeks improve. Merry Christmas.

    1. Improve... It doesn't get any better than this. Mike doesn't have another meet until March, unless one pops up last minute. And practices are kinda fun. Often Don and I drop him off and go out to dinner.

  3. Pamela, I get tired just reading about what you've been doing! It's great seeing pictures of your pup. He certainly HAS grown. I enjoy going to Michael's, too. In fact, I was there this past weekend. And I LOVE your pinecone people!

I am happy you continue to write your terrific books.

Best wishes to you and your family for a wonderful Christmas!

    1. Kate, have I ever told you how wonderfully special you are. Someday when you come to Phoenix to visit, we'll just sit down and have coffee and craft.

  4. Pamela, so sorry about your towel fiasco. Some day you and your son will laugh about it. The schedule you manage to keep amazes me. But I know that's why you're so productive and successful. I don't craft but I would make these pine cone people with you!

    1. Then, I went back to Walmart with my receipt and the customer service line was 20 people deep. LOL

  5. I love your posts! I don't craft, either, but I'll come and watch you and Carol just because I think the conversation would be so great! I'm pretty sure a bunch of the other Heartwarming Sisters would come, too.

  6. My December is nowhere as busy as yours! Would you please come organize me? And make some of those pinecone people?

  7. I'm not very crafty, but I love Michael's too! Now that I've gotten all of my Christmas cards written and mailed, I can take a little breather.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

    1. Next blog, I'll post about the day the dog got loose and I met the man I'm going to leave my husband for. Hmmm, the man who caught my dogs was probably 15 years younger than me. Hmmm, the man who caught my dog probably thought the six boys with me were all mine! Hmmmm, I was dressed in romance writer gear: baggy pants, oversized shirt, and wild eyes.
Yes, all romance writers have wild eyes after writing 2000 words.

  11. I'm laughing as I read this! Boy, do I remember the days of running kids to practice and forgetting things. I love your posts because it helps me realize that I whine too much and other people are way busier than me. I'm glad I don't have to worry about finals anymore! :)
