I've never heard about the seed getting dark in an apple although I did read that's how you tell if Concord grapes are ready. Best way to tell if they're ready is to take a bite. If they're not too hard, just crisp, and not too sour I'd guess they're ready. Enjoy!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17991961508230665632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2442063056672240555.post-49537337441836246892016-09-20T15:30:36.162-07:002016-09-20T15:30:36.162-07:00My tomatoes were late, too.My tomatoes were late, too.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17991961508230665632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2442063056672240555.post-80228533135268208922016-09-20T15:29:33.983-07:002016-09-20T15:29:33.983-07:00Depending on the type of apple you use, it might l...Depending on the type of apple you use, it might look a little dry. Peach, pear, and prune trees, too. I miss all of the fresh fruit and vegetables. What you buy in stores today just don't taste like the produce of old. I've been giving them away like crazy. Apple crisp is one of my favorites. I've tried a couple new recipes I found on Pinterest "apple blondies" and a yummy apple cake - both delicious. I'll be freezing some for pies. The deer and elk eat the ones that fall from the tree. They're fun to watch. The big Mountain Ash that was in front of it blew down in a storm a couple of years ago, and the apple tree is finally a little too tall for the deer to reach! I'm so excited. Been checking it out daily.
