Help Me, Obi Wan Kanobi

So, I'm between contracts right now.  It's the writer's way.  Finish a book, finish the revisions, finish the final edits, all the while working on the next proposal or proposals.  I sent in my last proposal in May and waiting to hear what comes next.

I'm not bored, though.  See, living at my house is this thing called an eight year old.  Yesterday, between church, I not only played board games, but I also build a lego train station (I'm not very good so this means I made lego benches).

Then, last night, at church, it's VBS.

As a writer, I get the fun job.  I help with puppets.  This year, our puppet play came with only three parts and five kids wanted to perform, so I rewrote the plays so everyone had their part.

Our theme is Star Wars, only that's copy-righted, so we're doing Scar Wars.

Still, I guess Scar Wars sounded so fun, that a few characters from Star Wars simply had to drop by.

Here I am next to the ship and a storm trooper (could be a sand trooper; I always get them mixed up)

Princess Lia also helped out.  (Hmmm, I think I taught her in sixth grade.  When did she get taller than me?)

Somewhere I have a picture of me and Darth Vadar taken at a re-enactment.

Yes, I'm glad my son is finally into Star Wars.  I don't mind watching the DVD 150 times (I'm not kidding)

And, my favorite character is Obi Wan Kanobi.

Who's yours?

  1. How wonderful, Pam, that you get to put your writing to such good use! VBS should be lots of fun as well as a learning experience. I've got to go with Han Solo. I love his courage, his vulnerability, his love for Leia and for Chewbacca! And the way he saved Luke on the ice planet (or whatever that was) by putting him in the belly of the tauntaun. Got to love a man with ingenuity!

    1. My son loves Anikin, mostly because of the Star Wars the Clone Wars.

  2. Pam, That's so cool, and it takes a real talent to rewrite a play and add parts so all of the kiddies get to act. I have to admit that I didn't really get into the Star Wars craze, but Denny and my kids sure did. If I had to pick a character I liked it'd be Darth Vader because he was so intriguing and loved that echoing voice.

    1. I'm amazed at what the kids can do. They are great.
Darth, huh. I've always loved James Earl Jones.

  3. Hi Pam,
I have to admit-science fiction just isn't my thing lol, despite growing up in a home filled with 'Trekkies'. I can't honestly say I've watched the whole movie (any of them), but if it counts, I think Yoda is cute:)

  4. Pamela, you post is a hoot!!!!!!! We went through a Star Trek phase here, with uniforms, etc. LOL! We have all the stuff on video, and are waiting for the new ST one, something about Darkness to come out in DVD. That's the extent of my interest in SF though.

    1. We are waiting for 2014, too. Mike has a Darth Vador costume, but he pretends to be a storm trouper more often.

  5. What great fun, Pamela! I've turned my three boys into avid Star Wars and Star Trek fans :). I'd say my Star Wars faves are Yoda and Obi Wan.

  6. Hmmm... I think I have to agree with Muriel about Han Solo. I was in love with him for YEARS. He had the looks and the sense of humor that I've always been attracted to. And then when the same actor starred as Indiana Jones? SWOON!

    Enjoy VBS!

  8. Look him up, Pam. I'm sure you'll understand. He did a sort of grody film called Magic Mike, I think, about male dancers. Didn't see it. The film I loved was one about a Roman officer out to avenge his father's name. Simple, good pulp story. He was so good. And he's so handsome!

  9. Muriel-you and I have even more in common-I love Channing Tatum and Magic Mike was a terrible movie, but if you watch it on mute, it's okay:):)
