Perfectly Pinterest by Cerella Sechrist

I don't have a problem.

Or so I tell myself.

But the truth is, I'm just a teeny teeny (teeny!) bit addicted to Pinterest.

I don't get swept up into Facebook, and I can go a week without checking my Twitter feed. I forget to log into Instagram until I'm standing in a line, and I've already checked all my email. But Pinterest? I go a couple of days without it, and I begin to feel that itch, wondering what sort of images I've missed.

I have boards for each of my novels, displaying settings and characters and even links to reviews and book trailers. In my little Pinterest world, I'm a master chef and a savvy interior designer. I have wit and class, and I can share my love of random things without shame.

And that's just the boards I've already made public - I have several in my secret stash that I'm just waiting to unveil.

Pinterest has allowed me to become a curator of all the things that inspire and sustain me.

Sure, it's been called the electronic version of hoarding, but it doesn't take up one inch of space in my home, so like I said...I don't have a problem. (ahem)

My Boards on Pinterest

And since Pinterest is a celebration of all things visual, it occurred to me - why doesn't Heartwarming have its own Pinterest account? Readers love our book covers, and I, like so many of my fellow authors, have lots of images in mind that help keep the creative juices flowing when it comes to characters.

So I raised my hand and volunteered to jumpstart Heartwarming on Pinterest.

I know, I know. I can't quite contain myself either! Sure, we just launched a couple of days ago, but the board of 2014 Heartwarming releases is a visual feast in itself!

And now I have even more excuses to spend hours pinning to my heart's content.

Because it's not like I have a problem or anything. ;)

If you're already on Pinterest, we'd love to have you follow the Heartwarming boards. Visit us at: Harlequin Heartwarming on Pinterest

And if you haven't yet succumbed to Pin-mania, this guide should get you started on setting up an account. Just keep in mind the following image and don't say you weren't warned.

Cerella is the author of Harlequin Heartwarming's The Paris Connection and Gentle Persuasion. You can find out more about her and her writing at www.cerellasechrist.com, where she pens Literary Fare: Food and Fiction, a blog for readers.

  1. Hi Cerella, You are tooo funny with your "addiction" to Pinterest. But what a great idea to bring Heartwarming aboard. I have an account but don't know how to use it. You have inspired me to get busy. I like how you've made a board for each of your novels. What a great idea.

    1. Thanks, Sandra! I love having a visual storyboard for my books - from settings to characters. It's just fun to look at when I need a fresh shot of inspiration. Once you fully get the feel of Pinterest, it's so much fun! And (cough) addicting. :D

    1. Hi Marianne! What's your Pinterest account URL or handle so I can look you up? You can either following Heartwarming on Pinterest at www/pinterest.com/hqheartwarming or we can try to figure something else out so you can keep track of our pins and re-pin them. I'd love to see your boards anyway so LMK where I can find you on there! :)

  3. I'm like Sandra--I have an account. I have some pages. Boards? But in order to visit there, I would have to tear myself away from Facebook. One addiction at a time. :-)

    1. LOL! I know, Liz, it's hard to balance social media. Fortunately, not too many of them draw me in except for Pinterest. I get sucked up in the visuals. At least admitting you have an addiction is the first step, right? ;)

  4. I so apologize for my ignorance. I'm not even sure what Pinterest is. I did go to the link you posted the other day to see the beautiful page (board?) you created for us, but not sure how it all works. Is it people displaying everything of interest to them? I've got to get better educated so the technological world doesn't leave me behind. But I'm not sure my brain is big enough. Thank heavens for you 'kids' who keep us informed. Thanks, Cerella.

    1. You're always so sweet with your comments, Muriel! Pinterest is sort of like a bunch of photo albums, organized by topic or interest. If you see an image you like, you can "pin" it to a certain board. It's really fun for creating storyboards for books (or anything else that interests you!) I have boards with quotes, food and recipes, links back to my blog, one for pugs (since I have two pugs, I love to pin pug photos!), etc. Since the Heartwarming boards are new and don't have as many pins, you can take a look at my author Pinterest boards since that gives you a better picture of what all you can do. Mine are at: www.pinterest.com/cerellasechrist :) Thanks for leaving such lovely comments!

  6. Cerella, I'm a little late reading your post but I am cracking up!! When I alert people to Pinterest I warn them of how addicting it is. You become just like that picture of Jack Nicholson....(I'm dying laughing over here). I am definitely going to check out the Heartwarming Pinterest Board. As usual, you're so creative. Thx for giving me a great laugh today. ( :

    1. Somehow, Laurie, I just knew you'd understand! :) I always feel a little bad when I go on a pinning spree because I know people are just going to see streams of pins with my name attached to them. And by the end of it, I do look a little like the picture of Jack! :) Can't wait to have you follow us!

  7. Cerella, I share your addiction... unfortunately. I'm on there almost everyday and "researching". Or "looking for inspiration". Yeah, that's it. Pinterest is my muse. SIGH. Okay, maybe it's a distraction from rather than a tool for writing.

I'm now following the Heartwarming boards though. Thank you for taking that on!
