Hi from the High Country

Hope everyone is having a great summer. I am in Avery County North Carolina in the mountains. The weather is great. my dog and I are happy to be away from the Florida heat. But... the cell service is sketchy and I dont have wifi! I actually missed posting last month because I couldnt find a hot spot. Now Im using my old tablet and any mistakes are the fault of the tablet and not me! all this makes me wonder about our dependence om wifi, social media, etc. would you take a two month vacation to the place of your dreams if you had to give up wifi? its tough. Anyway stay cool and enjoy a good book, like a Harlequin Heartwarming

  1. I get away from the social media every weekend and when I’m on vacation. What a nightmare when Monday morning comes, and I go into my email. Sounds like you have the perfect place to enjoy yourself this summer even with its few drawbacks.

  3. You're not far from me, Cynthia. I'm in Charlotte. So it was you, who chased the humidity away for a few days...thanks! Enjoy!

  4. Just getting away from WiFi would be a vacation- lol. Yes- I would definitely leave for two months, but I would want access to a landline so that I could check in with loved ones. Otherwise, I just need something to read, trails to hike, rivers to canoe and family to visit :)

  5. It would be tough to wean myself from wifi, but the nearest thing I had growing up was a party line, and I was happy.

  6. It is interesting to think about how dependent we as a society have become on social media. It seems to be increasing by the day, too! There's always some new app to "keep us connected" but in a way, all it does is keep us from making real connections, right?
I would take the two month vacation to some tropical paradise and use my time away from wifi as a reset button and hopefully return not as dependent. :) Sounds like you're having a great summer, Cynthia! Enjoy those beautiful mountains!

  7. I must admit, I'd miss it! I love living in the country because it's quiet and private, but I also love the contack afforded by technology. Hope you're having fun!

  8. Hi, Cynthia! Love my Wi-fi, but am old enough to have lived long enough without it to know I'd survive. Hope you're having a wonderful time! You should go visit Jill for some face to face contact.
