I’m working on the next book in The Business of
Wedding series. For each book of the series, my heroines have some connection
to the wedding industry. So far we’ve seen a vintage wedding dress fashion
show coordinator, event planner, caterer and florist. I’ve enjoyed researching the
different aspects of planning a wedding from the professional's point of view. Creating capable characters to get the
job done has been very satisfying and lots of fun.
The story I’m working on now features lots of music,
along with a lovely romance. While I’m deep into writing the story, I find that
I need your help. Yep, that’s right. Your help.
If you’ve ever been to a wedding reception, chances
are you’ve been entertained by a wedding band. Guests expect lively, sometimes
over the top, dance music to celebrate with the happy couple. Same goes for
this story. I have all the band members lined up, with the hero my industry expert,
but I could use a catchy name for the band. I’ve come up with a few, but thought,
why not get some ideas from the awesome readers of the Heartwarming books?
So my friends...any ideas? I'm hoping for a uniquely original name that will grab the wedding guests attention. I plan on using one of your suggestions in the finished book.
This story is set in Cypress Pointe, the small
Florida town where my previous books have taken place. I love connected stories
where characters we’ve come to know pop in so you can catch up on their lives. It
makes us feel like we personally know each and every one.
While you’re thinking of an awesome band name, take
a sneak peek at the cover of my June 2016 book. As always, the Harlequin cover
design team did a fantastic job!
Can’t wait to read the names you come up with. Thanks!

Tara, that is an awesome cover. Love your wedding stories. I'm incredibly bad with thinking up names. I'll come back if anything flies out of the blue to hit me. I actually was privileged to attend a wedding once where the Beach Boys performed. One of them was a good friend of the groom. Sadly they overshadowed the wedding. LOL
ReplyDeleteBeach Boys! Awesome!
DeleteI agree with Roz...that's one terrific cover! Can't wait to read other suggestions for your band's name. What if, in their advertisements, the group claims to have entertained for politicians, singers, actors, and athletes, so they call themselves The Name Droppers! LOL Hope you have a great week's end and weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Love it.
DeleteTara - beautiful cover, but then we always have them. I'm with Roz - I'll come back if I get a good idea, but I'm sure one of our Heartwarmers, or one of our clever readers will have one. (Is the band all male?)
ReplyDeleteYes, all male, until the heroine fills in at a wedding. :-)
DeleteThat's funny, Roz. I guess the Beach Boys would take center stage. My favorite wedding reception was my younger son's--such fun--and I had to choose the song for our dance. Wouldn't you know? There are hardly any mother/son ones. Good thing I can't remember that dance or the song I picked very well. The lyrics were sweet, though. Band names?? Tara, you know I'm struggling to find a title right now for a novella. But I'll put my thinking cap on for the band. I love, love, love your June cover!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLove your cover.I write a lot about music and you’ve hit on a problem I’ve had to deal with in my own stories. In my research I found some bands got their names from a comment. For example, one fan told Russ Freeman his band was ripping. Russ took the name and made it The Rippingtons. The Little River Band was searching for a name as they headed to a gig. They passed this little river and guess what? Often the band leaders name is used especially if it’s catchy – Van Halen or Mumford and Sons. The rock band Lynyd Skynyrd took their name from a teacher they had who gave them a hard time in high school. Whatever I come up with, I put into Google to see if there’s anything out there with the same name. Good luck in your search.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI absolutely adore your cover! I am terrible at naming things - people, animals, businesses, bands, EVERYTHING! But I can't wait to see what people come up with.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cover, Tara. Hum...this is tough. How many members are in the band? Are they all males? Well, since I need more caffeine today, I'll say, The Keurigs. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThe Keurigs. Love it!
DeleteTara! That cover should win a prize!!! I'm just awful at names but my favorite band is Pink Martini. You could do Blue Martini. I like Loree 's key rigs the best!
ReplyDeleteI guess this is harder than I thought it would be!
ReplyDeleteHi Tara! I think the cover is lovely! :) My suggestion for you is: The Grand Gator Gang ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful cover! Names... Is there anything about the town that could give the band a name? I remember a popular group around here was called the Stoplight City Band because driving through Kokomo, Indiana made you crazy with its stoplights.
ReplyDeleteSo as it turns out, apparently I wasn't done...
ReplyDelete-The Humid Cupids
-Humidity Floridity
-Humid Cadence
-Jack* and the Hurri-cane sugar cubes
-Hurricadence
-Tanner* and the Tan Lines
-The Keys to Your Heart (my personal fav, I think)
correction: Floridity Humidity
DeleteYou've really put some thought into my question! :-)
DeleteI adore all things that have to do with naming! :)
DeleteEverylasting Lovers
ReplyDeleteWOW! Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteI agree, beautiful cover. Brainstorming for the band, maybe
ReplyDelete-Black Lagoon
-Treehouse
-Conifer Club
or maybe not. This is hard.
Thanks!
DeleteI'll leave the naming to the readers, Tara, but I absolutely LOVE your cover!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate.
DeleteHmm....a small Florida town. How about....
ReplyDelete1) The Friendly Alligators
2) The Hurricanes
3) The Tourist Attractions
As you can see, I'm not too good at this. Hope you find a great name for the band. Love the cover of your book.
Thanks, everyone, for your input.
