The Perils of Change by Senior Editor Victoria Curran

The perils of change...

By red-faced senior editor Victoria Curran

I gladly volunteer to write a guest post for this blog on the first Friday of every month... But this is the second  month in a row I've completely forgotten!!! I blame change.

Assistant editor Dana Grimaldi was always my partner in crime getting images and setting the posts up for me...and making sure I got it done. And now, because of the changing makeup of the series editorial teams in Toronto, she doesn't work with me anymore. I am feeling her loss in more ways than this blog. Change can be difficult. (I feel I must point out here that she seems to have moved on quite easily!)

I am typing this late in the day from home, on my phone (which is very wee) because Apple changed my computer's hard drive configuration and I suspect I'll never be able to get on the internet again. Did I mention I'm not good with change?

So please accept my apology, book birthday authors. You are incredibly important to us. And our readers.

And Heartwarming is in the process of signing three new authors this month (unrelated to the Heartwarming Blitz). LeAnne Bristow is the first and only one I can officially welcome aboard this week. Stay tuned for more next week though!

Enjoy the first true month of summer...I hope you all cope with change better than I do!

Victoria

  1. You have my greatest admiration for writing an entire post on a phone--I can barely made comments like "Good for you," much less type full sentences complete with punctuation. Welcome, LeAnne Bristow!

  2. Change really should be a four letter word. :) I agree with Liz...posting from your phone? I'd say that's a win. And yes, welcome LeAnne!

  3. I'm right there with you about change. Where did MS hide all the commands in this new version of Word? I'm highly impressed with your phone posting skills. My texts always auto-correct into gibberish. And so excited for LeAnne.

  5. From your phone??? That is a skill I will never conquer. I'm forced to use my phone too much from work, always harried. Kudos, Victoria! And I'm so happy for LeAnne! I hope she's celebrating! How very exciting!

  6. Writing this post from your phone (which impresses me greatly) doesn't (honestly) have anything to do with sitting on a patio, enjoying the beautiful sunshine, does it, Victoria? Okay, I'll believe it's a computer glitch, but hopefully NOW you can enjoy the weather!

Congratulations, LeAnne!! I am sooo very happy for you...and for us! :-)

  7. Okay...now I'm crying...again. And still dancing for joy! So if y'all hear about an earthquake in southern Arizona, it was just me. :)

I've already been made to feel so welcome and can't wait to be a part of this wonderful family!

And Victoria, I'm super impressed. Every time I try to do anything on my phone, it comes out in gibberish. :)

    2. Congratulations, LeAnne! Yeah, what's with that. There are peeps who do graphics on their phone. I can barely text with my fat fingers.

  8. Victoria, thank you for making me laugh today. I feel your pain, both about change and phones. And now I'm envisioning you trying to read all these responses- on your phone - while you wonder how in the world you are going to manage to respond to them all. So many Congrats to you, LeAnne!

  9. I remember meeting you at some recent RWA, Victoria. I was impressed by your friendly manner toward this star-struck writer. I'm again impressed by your phone-blogging skills. Change is not my thing either. Unless it's good change - like the one LeAnne got today!

Congrats again to you, LeAnne. You were so excited for me when I signed my contract. It's so lovely to be able to return the favor!

  11. Victoria, I thought I was alone in not liking change. Especially if it's anything to do with computers, phones, or the like. I'm so very excited that LeAnne sold. She's awesome and has worked really hard to make this happen. I like Pam's squeee!

  12. BTW-I forgot to say how sorry I am that you lost Dana G. She's still at the office, though---right? You all are so swamped, and still everyone turns out great books.

  13. Victoria, as you know, I was sharing your bad-computer pain. I finally gave up and bought a new laptop. I'm literally typing on my actual keyboard. (Can hardly believe it!) I hope your technology troubles end soon! But really impressive blogging!

LeAnne, I seem to be chasing you all over the Internet to congratulate you! So happy you're a Heartwarmer! :-)

  14. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like change! And I feel your pain with the computer. But Wow! typing on your phone! That's dedication.
So glad LeAnne is joining the Heartwarming bunch!

  18. Can't wait to see who the other 2 new HW authors are!! Even tho these sales didn't come from the Blitz, the Blitz was a wonderful opportunity that I was thankful to be able to participate in (but sadly received an R).

    Congrats again to Leanne!!

And congrats to Victoria on typing on a wee phone.
