Having Fun with Cowboy Weddings

One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about writing my new series for Heartwarming — now officially titled THE SWEETHEART RANCH — has been the research. Sweetheart Ranch is a western-themed wedding venue and bed and breakfast (think honeymoon cabins), and I’ve had to come up with all kinds of different weddings for the books.

Of course, I’ve included traditional carriage rides, though in my books they have a distinct western flavor.

A few of the more interesting weddings I’ve found are the couple singing their vows, a flash mob recession, and a paralyzed groom walking down the aisle with the aid of a robotic exoskeleton. And what cowboy wedding would be complete without the groom and his groomsmen arriving on horseback?

Drawing my writing inspiration from the different wedding outfits has been especially fun. I personally would like more traditional wedding attire but, then again, a playful take might be okay, too. What do you think?

Let’s not forget the ring bearer and flower girl. Pretty darn adorable.

And the cake!

Really, though, the best part about writing a series of books with a wedding ranch is that I don’t have to pick just one wedding. I get to include them all! Good practice for the day when I can hopefully help with one of my own grown children’s weddings.

I can’t wait until my first Sweetheart Ranch book is released. THE COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL will hit shelves November 2018. It was even more special for me because I also got to write about holiday weddings ♡♡♡ Maybe that can be a blog post for another time ☺

Warmest wishes,

Cathy McDavid
