A Heartwarming Halloween

Halloween... how do I love thee... let me count the ways! by Karen Rock

1. Playing dress-up as an adult :)

2. Carving Pumpkins!

3. Getting together with loved ones!

4. Decorating the house with spooky lights.

5. Lots of smiles at our annual Halloween party :)

5. Lots of kids to overdose you on total and complete cuteness.

6. Even the pets get in on the action!

While Christmas will always be my favorite holiday, Halloween comes in at a close second :) What do you like best about Halloween? If you could only celebrate two holidays a year, which would they be?

Oh- and don't forget to grab a copy of our Heartwarming author's Thanksgiving anthology A HEARTWARMING THANKSGIVING on Amazon  Barnes and Nobles Harlequin.com and other online retailers. It has all the feel-good, home, hearth, family, warm-hearted romance you can count on in a Harlequin Heartwarming to get you in the mood for the upcoming holidays :)

  1. Halloween COULD be my favorite holiday...if I could talk my family into getting into the Halloween spirit. My husband would rather be dropped off a cliff than to dress up. I know...he's the bahumbug of Halloween. sniff. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. There is so much stress at Christmas time, although now that my granddaughter is old enough to understand Christmas, it may change. :)

    1. Greg is such a ham! He even dresses up as Elvis some years and sings Elvis songs to the trick-or-treaters

  2. Mine would be Christmas and Thanksgiving, although Halloween at your house looks like a blast. Hope it was fantastic.

  3. I'm a Christmas and Thanksgiving girl, too, but your house really does look like fun! I hadn't thought of those Thanksgiving stories in a while--weren't those fun!

  4. Canada Day. It was the beginning of a great country (except for what we did to the Indigenous People). And the other day would be the new planned holiday to remember the Indigenous people who were taken from their homes and put into residential schools.

    Depressing, right?

Veterans Day would be up there as well. I appreciate holidays when we take time to reflect on our past and what we are going to do to help form the future of ourselves, our families, and our communities.

Finally, ironically, Election Day. In Canada, every employee is given 3 hours with which to vote. Once, I was working until 5pm and my polls closed at 7pm. My employer let me go at 4pm. Can you imagine if we did that for everyone? I've never missed a vote in any election.

(Okay, sorry to be such a downer. I like Thanksgiving and Victoria Day as well).

    1. I wish we had time off to vote! All of your picks are great days to celebrate- especially the indigenous people day

  5. Halloween isn't really my thing. I adore Christmas though ... which considering I was born on Christmas Eve (which was also my Paw-paw's birthday) I would probably be ostracized if I didn't love it! :) My second favorite is Thanksgiving. The parade, the family memories, the yummy food, pumpkin pie, etc. Good times!

    1. I enjoy Halloween, but it isn't my top favorite. Thanksgiving and Christmas definitely head that list.

  6. I saw so many great costumes on kids yesterday, including a jellyfish and a Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I dressed all in black, but didn't get a costume on.

  7. Love seeing the kids - and the kids at heart - all dressed up at Halloween. My two favorite holidays would be Christmas and Halloween. What could be better than having a holiday just a few days later than your birthday? :)

  9. Too bad we don't celebrate Halloween in our country, it sounds like an awesome partytime all around. I used to love "Sinterklaas" (December 5th) when we celebrated that joyeus evening of gift unwrapping and reading the little prank poems, it was real fun. Alas we all grew up. The holiday I most enjoy is Christmas, which will start for us on December 24th at 18.00 hours (on the dot) My husband took the traditions he loved from his German mother and we celebrate Christmas in a German way, in which food has become rather important. The other holiday I enjoy is our own tradition we made about 10 years ago. On New Year's Eve, around a quarter to twelve, my hubs and I, take a soak in our bathtub (lovely fragrance oil added) and when the New Year begins, we toast each other with some champagne. It's partytime for two but we love it!
