Sorry, guys, I couldn’t resist showing off my early daffodils. The rest of the yard looks downright awful as it keeps snowing here and dropping down to freezing, then zooming back to sixty-five and cloudy skies. I’m still wishing for real spring. Because…TA DA---my new SHORES OF INDIAN LAKE release is here.
HERS TO PROTECT. This is such an honor, a blast of fun and an insightful journey into the people, problems, politics and passions that comprise the makeup of my hometown, which is the template for the fictional Indian Lake of my stories. Hers to Protect is number eleven in the series and just recently I had a fantastic kick-off event at the La Porte County Historical Museum.
Prior to my speech, the organizers of the event, Joanne Gorecki and Barb Krieg and her husband, Mike, and me got together at Joanne’s house to create the flyer that was pasted all over town to announce the event—“The Adventurous Journey of Catherine Lanigan”. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t go for a title like that—makes me shake in my boots. But since this year is my 40th year in the publishing/author world, I figured, I’d go with it. It was Joanne’s always creative mind that came up with the idea to have our local cookie maker, bake up these “Book” cookies with my titles on them. They were snatched up in minutes, believe me. And soooo good.
It was a magical night for me ---the audience didn’t get bored---they laughed at my jokes and still wanted to talk to me when it was over.
What was very cool for me was that this Historical Museum plays as a setting in KATIA’S PROMISE and as the setting for a fundraiser in HERS TO PROTECT. The synchronicity going on for the entire event was sublime.
Young, rookie cop right out of the Police Academy, Violet Hawks, is derailed by a multi-millionaire Formula One driver, killer gorgeous, Josh Stevens, whom she tickets for speeding and then cites for resisting arrest and puts in jail. The flint striking those jail bars is more than haphazard sparks. These fireworks come at Violet and Josh at breakneck speed. At the same time, Violet must prove her detective skills to her superior officers and rout out dangerous drug lord, Miguel Garcia, who appears to have connections to Josh. Is her meeting with Josh random? Or part of a drug trafficking scheme?
