Hello Halloween by Cari Lynn Webb

love Halloween. I loved when my girls dressed up and we went trick-or-treating. And I loved when the trick-or-treaters came to our house. My girls are now teenagers and I declared that once you have your driver’s license and can drive to the store to buy your own candy, you probably shouldn’t be trick-or-treating, no matter how much you want free candy. We live in a community now with more retirees than young kids and the trick-or-treaters don’t quite make it down our street. I still have my house decorated. Witches, ghosts and colorful spiders hang in every room, waiting to greet every guest.

I just turned in Book 6 for my City by the Stories, I’m coming off the deadline stress and starting to really get excited for the coming holidays. In honor of Halloween, here’s my list of the top 5 Halloween decorations I believe every house should have. And if I had an unlimited budget, I would buy them all. Unfortunately, I’ll have to stick to one. Anyone have a favorite?

2. Haunted Pen and Ink Well. Find it here.

  1. Nothing better than finishing a book and celebrating a holiday! Love the Mummy candy dish!

  2. Cari, Congrats on finishing book 6! I think writers should get the haunted pen and ink well to celebrate Halloween. I think that would look very cool on my desk!

  3. So cute! And the love spell and haunted pen seem appropriate for a romance writer's lair. We don't get trick-or-treaters anymore either, but Happy Halloween all the same.

  4. Because I live on an unsafe street for pedestrians, I turn off my lights and try to do nothing to encourage the kids, which makes me sad. But I do participate in a candy give-away downtown, so that's fun. I like the haunted pen.

  5. Oh my gosh! Carrie, I want it all. How adorable. I love all the Halloween festivities in my small town. Lots and lots of kids at the door and I now have over 2000 Halloween lights outside. Yep, put up another garland and lights 2 nights ago. It's such a fun tradition. Congrats on the book! I can't wait to read it!

  6. Oooh, I saw that spell book a few weeks ago and had to leave the store before I bought it. I don't do the creepy decorating--I like cute halloween, like mice and hedgehogs and cats in witches' hats. :) Congrats on finishing your book! I'm with Catherine. I can't wait to read it! <3

  7. When I was too old to trick or treat I made myself a witches dress, had a hat and an ugly mask with a nose wart and set up my cauldron on our front porch and with spooky moaning sounds and dry ice fog, I passed out candy to the kids brave enough to come up on our porch in the Wisconsin town of four thousand where I grew up. Great memories looking at all your seasonal goodies.

  8. I like the whimsy Halloween too. I have a wreath I made with the witches legs hanging out (as in the wicked witch is dead). I like the hand with the pen. It reminded of the old box on the table when the Addams Family was a TV show. Congrats on finishing the book.

  9. Congrats, Cari! I loved Halloween as a kid...back then we only had sheets for costumes...but we made for some cute ghosts!

  10. The haunted house book and mummy candy dish are my top picks.

Congrats on finishing your book. That must give a sense of relief, no matter how brief since I'm sure you have more books to plot and then edits.

  11. Those are fun photos. I love the pen. Have a good time with your kids and your break!
