Pretty Pictures

What with login problems, and not always having internet access, I haven't posted here for a while. I think we're all a little tired, frustrated, and ready for life to go back to normal...but we don't know when that will happen or what normal will be then.

So today, I'm just going to try to distract you with pretty pictures.

You may not know me or the unusual lifestyle I'm currently enjoying.

This is my home now. As you might be able to tell from the flag, we're Canadians, and we've left the cold behind to cruise the Caribbean.

We're currently in Grenada, where we should miss any hurricanes, though, this is 2020. So here are pretty pictures from Grenada, which currently hasn't had a Covid case in 50 days.

Maybe, when we do find out new normal, you can come and enjoy this for yourself.

Sunset

Estate in Port Hartman Bay

This one is sunrise as we sailed to Grenada
Since I have a black thumb, this amazes me.

Are we bored of sunsets?

  1. Grenada is a place I've always wanted to visit, so thanks for taking me there (vicariously) Kim! Lovely photos.

    1. I take a lot of photos on my phone, because, to my northern eyes, it's all so new and beautiful. I try not to get blase about it.

    2. Beautiful scenery never gets old, does it?

    3. Trying not to let it, because we do tend to take things for granted.

    1. It's my first time here as well. We were in quarantine for the first two weeks, so we were stuck on the boat, just looking at the island.

  4. I'm officially nostalgic over this cruising life--it was decades ago that my family did the liveaboard life and all that entails over several years. I can't say I miss it now, but your stunning pictures bring it all back. Thanks for sharing them with us.

    1. I've been going through a stretch where if my spouse decided he'd had enough sailing, I wouldn't fight him on it, but I think that's mostly because I haven't been home since January and I'm missing family.

  5. Can't get enough of those tropical sunsets! Give Charlie an extra cuddle from me.

    1. Happy to do so. We need to comb burs out of his paws so he may need that cuddle afterwards!

    1. Honestly, people know Charlie around here that I've never met. He's way more popular than we are. We're supposed to go somewhere Wednesday and can't take him and we've had four people volunteer to dog sit. Which is pretty remarkable when only six people know we need a dog sitter!

  7. Ah, so beautiful! What a great way to practice social distancing!

    1. Yes, when you're on a boat, you're distanced. I suppose people could "swim over" to the boat, but no one does because there are dinghies and other boats going through the water and they don't always notice swimmers. There have been accidents, sometimes fatal, so visiting is only done by dinghy.

    1. Charlie has adapted very well to boat life: he only came on board September 1, and you'd think he'd been on the boat for years. He does get a little confused about how he can see us inside the boat through a hatch, and trying to figure out where that is.

  9. Are they practicing precautions in Grenada, just in case? Beautiful pictures and Charlie looks like a love. Safe journeys.

    1. If you arrive in Grenada, you have to have arranged it in advance, and they don't accept everyone from everywhere. Then you are quarantined for 14 days, and take a test before you're allowed to check into the country. You have to wear a mask. Restaurants are open once they meet criteria, and all staff wear masks, sanitize your hands, and note your name and location for contact tracing.

Social distancing. No groups of more than ten or twenty unless a wedding or funeral, and then it's only 50. Not all businesses are open yet - the restaurant thing started this month.

I feel safe here. 55 days since a case...only 23 cases in total, no deaths.
