Cute Mask!

Who could have guessed that the new compliment between women in 2020 would be "Cute mask! Where did you get it?"

We might save money on lipstick, but we spend it again on face masks. :) Patricia Johns and Patricia Bradley want to share their masks with you... in all their glory.

Patricia Johns

Every once in a while, I feel like I've pulled my look together with a coordinating mask with my outfit. It doesn't happen often, so I took photo proof of it happening exactly once. But I feel like it should be celebrated, so here you are!

Patricia Bradley

This is me in my mask. It’s the only one I have even though I’ve made at least twenty and given them away. Who knew I’d wear one out! I will be so happy when this is over and everything goes back to normal…except what will normal look like?

Leave a comment and tell us what you think normal is going to look like after this is all over.

  1. Well you both look wonderful in your masks! I usually wear the basic surgical type, but need to find a cloth one that fits properly over my ears and hearing aids. Walking down a street a few days ago I caught sight of an aging woman in a store window and paused, wondering who that familiar person was. Me, of course. Sigh. Here's to a future without masks ASAP!

    1. Janice, I've done that very thing--seen my reflection in a window and wonder who in the world that old woman was. lol.

  2. You both look great. I've made a ton of them and wear four or five different ones, but I NEVER match anything. I made some family members ones with musical notes on them--they all like them, but Duane has the same issue with hearing aids as Janice.

    1. My sister does as well, Liz. She's coming this week and I'll see how I can make one to accommodate them.

  3. Looking good. A friend made a mask for me--otherwise, I'm using the OTC variety that meet the requirement, but aren't fashion statements. I've admired those who have taken this to the next step and added some variety to "the look."

    1. Virginia, I've made them with kittens and horses and paisley flowers on them. I'd like to make one with a big toothy smile. lol

  4. Love the post and looking forward to no masks. I have hearing aids too so I crocheted an extender that loops around one side of the mask and has a big button on the other side to hook the other elastic on. I can wear it under my ears but it stays in place and no pulling my hearing aids off. Now I'm having to make more for hubby and friends. The end of all this can't come too soon by me!

    1. That sounds like a great idea! My ears get sore quickly. I'll have to try it.

  5. Hi, ladies! I have a pink mask in Patricia Johns's style that I really like, and the other day at Sephora they had similar black masks with red hearts on them, which I've been thinking about ever since. Must go back to that store where I was buying shampoo, not cosmetics. May we all be living more normal lives soon!

    1. I like Patricia's style...don't think I could make it, though!

  6. You both could be mask models! I've sown a few, but I can't get the small elastic and the 3/8" I had on hand makes my ears stick out sideways! Still trying to perfect the fit. I've found on the disposable masks, if I twist the elastic once before putting them on my ears, they're tighter at the top and looser on the sides, so my glasses fog less.

  7. Until there's a vaccine, the new normal will continue with masks. It may not end there. Time and disease will tell.

  8. AHHH. I envy you girls! Working in a dental office, I have to wear regulation PPE masks. Unfortunately, amid my wrinkles, I am breaking out in acne, just like all the "girls" in my office. Not one of us is under 40! So, after 4 months behind the mask, I'm so ready for this to be over. However, it doesn't look like that will be anytime soon. Oh! I did discover that SILK masks are better for the skin. Silk filters out 98-99% of all bacteria and virus. So, I ordered some silk ones that I'm sharing with some staff members with truly bad acne from masks. These are softer, easier to breathe in. If they work, I'll be sewing more and more. Thanks for the great post, guys!

  9. I have a mask made of cat fabric from a friend, and some other homemade ones that aren't nearly as nice looking. I'm going to start making some better ones as soon as my latest manuscript goes it.

  10. I look forward to a day when we don't have to wear them. I don't know when that will be so until then I have flowered ones that make me happy-ish. ;-)
