Second Chances by Rula Sinara

It's hard to believe we've reached the final month of 2020. December is finally here and I'd like to think that all those beautiful Christmas lights adorning houses and trees are symbolic of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It's true that we're not out of the woods yet with this pandemic and we have to be even more vigilant and careful as winter comes, but the holiday season has always brought with it the gift of hope and healing.

When we're lucky, life gives us second chances. Whether it's a another chance to wear that mask, take an exam, get parenting right, apply for a job or a million other things, the sweetest second chance is when love finds a way.

Those of you who subscribe to Harlequin Books get to read new releases a month early, so you may get my January 2021 release, the third book in my Turtleback Beach series, this month. Second Chance Christmas is not only about soul mates finally coming together, but also about a young boy learning how to embrace life again after the loss of his mother. For those of you who love beaches, you'll experience Christmas small seaside town style and, as always, there will be endearing pets. Dogs play a big role in this series and this time the star pooch is a big, fluffy Newfoundland water rescue dog.

We are all looking at a winter where we have to spend more time at home, safe in our 'bubble', but we'll get through it. We are resilient. Reach for board games, baking and books. Escape in a story and let it remind you that life comes around. There's light at the end of the tunnel. And love keeps us going.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season,

Rula

    1. Thanks, Janice! I've noticed folks in my area are putting up more lights/decor and even earlier than they usually do. I think everyone knows we need cheering up and driving by Christmas lights/decor is a great (and safe) way to do so :).

    2. My tree is up and the lights sparkle, making the room look warm and inviting. Some nights I just sit and watch it.

    3. Same here, Shirley! Sitting by a lit Christmas tree at night, all cozy, is so soothing and meditative.

  3. Sounds like such a good story--where would any of us be without second chances?

  4. The story sounds wonderful! And yes, we definitely need those lights! I know one person who put their Christmas tree up before Halloween because she needed the bright lights. :-)

    1. Before Halloween! Wow, lol. But I totally get it. I did notice more elaborate Halloween decorations in general, too. I think the idea was that, since kids couldn't trick-or-treat, they could enjoy the décor in drive-by fashion, much like is done during the holidays. I love how people have gone all out to brighten days for everyone else.
