Sweet 16 Heroine Bracket by Melinda Curtis

We had so much fun with the February 17th hero bracket, I thought we'd let the heroines have a turn.  Who are your favorite heroines, and ultimately, your favorite heroine based on these choices?

One lucky reader who posts their winner will be chosen to receive a free copy of Summer Kisses!  And, of course, you can always make note that your favorite heroine was left off.

Enjoy!

  1. Hermione Granger for me, although I think it took me to the second book to get her name right. Buffy was second, but from the series not from the movie. Hmmm, I'm going to think about a heroine who was left off and come back later :)

    1. LOL, Pamela. I didn't know how to pronounce her name until the movies came out.

  2. I ended up with Wonder Woman battling Lizzie Bennett....but I gotta go with Lizzie on this one, LOL, because I've worn out my P&P DVDs not once, but twice! These are so much fun, Melinda! Thanks for starting the week of like this for us.

    1. Coming from you, Anna, Wonder Woman is a surprise. Is this because they are developing a Wonder Woman movie? Or because Penny on The Big Bang Theory dressed up as her on New Year's?

  3. I like Sookie Stackhouse, and Katniss Everdeen
Made me ponder a lot, though.

    1. Roz, your choices tell me you like strong, spunky heroines. Did you become a Sookie fan from the books or the series?

  4. Oooh I had a tough time choosing between Hermione and Arwen...but I'm going with Arwen for my bracket 1 winner. And in bracket 2 I love both Elizabeths and Katniss. Ultimately, I think I have a serious 3 way tie between Elizabeth Swann, Katniss and Arwen. Sorry, can't decide but leaning more to Katniss and Arwen.

    1. Love your choices, Rula. All strong heroines. Arwen is great. It was tough picking one of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit women (so few, but all great).

    2. Frankly, I haven't read the Harry Potter series (I know, I know. Just not into that.) But my granddaughter loved Hermione and I was thrilled that she read and read and read! And Elizabeth Bennett, because I loved her.

  5. This was somewhat difficult. The first bracket with Hermione Granger as the winner. The second bracket was the most difficult coming down to Elizabeth Bennett and Katniss. The winner was Miss Bennett. Ultimately the overall winner came out to be Hermione Granger. I must say again this was a difficult choice and if made at a later time my decision might change and be Miss Bennett.

  6. I'm in the same boat with Hermione winning the first bracket and Elizabeth Bennett winning the second but I'm going to give a slight edge to Hermione. I love Hermione because she reminds me of myself: book smart, a tendency to follow the rules and a strong sense of being a voice for those who can't speak for themselves.

  7. Ooh fun! Arwen vs Katniss in my reckoning, with Katniss prevailing! So obviously I like the archers...

    1. Oh, and my favourite missing heroine? Anne Shirley, even without a bow and arrow.
