Now, a little bit about my January release . . .

When Love Matters Most is the second book in my K-9 trilogy, is now available for sale!

For context, When the Right One Comes Along is the first book in the trilogy. It was released on October 1, 2015. It’s the story of trauma surgeon Jessica Hansen, San Diego Police Department search and rescue officer Cal Palmer, and Cal's search and rescue dog, Scout. You can learn more about When the Right One Comes Along here.

When Love Matters Most tells the story of SDPD K-9 unit sergeant Rick Vasquez, veterinarian Madison Long, and Rick’s narcotics detection dogs Sniff and Nitro. Here's the back cover blurb:

Keeping her safe at all costs

Could their backgrounds be any more different? Rick Vasquez, a K-9 unit sergeant with the San Diego Police Department, fled drug-related violence in Mexico as a boy. Madison Long, who recently became primary veterinarian to the SDPD's canines, is the privileged daughter of a judge. Rick has dedicated his life to curtailing cross-border drug trafficking and preventing other young boys from being drawn into the dark world of the cartels. But everything Rick and Madison value, and the growing love between them, is threatened by the dangers of Rick's job, and the risks he's determined to take…

GoodreadsAmazonB&NHarlequin

I had pictures of Rick, Madison and Sniff handy, so I thought I would share some with you. It occurred to me that Rick and Madison both look a little shy. Don't let these pictures fool you.

If you haven't read When Love Matters Most yet, you might wonder about the Alaskan Malamute in the picture on the bottom right. He's Madison's therapy dog, Owen. You don't see Owen in the picture on the cover of the book, as he got ahead of Rick, Madison and Sniff on their hike through Torrey Pines State Reserve north of San Diego. That was the first time Sniff and Owen had met, and they got along beautifully!

I'm going to refrain from telling you more about Rick, Madison and Sniff, because they're currently on a blog tour with Prism Book Tours.

You can find all the information about the tour here. In summary, here is the tour schedule:

Of course, there's also a giveaway involved.

BOOK CLUBS

Are you a member of a book club? If so, we have a series of questions for you. You can find them here.

If your book club or reading group selects When Love Matters Most, I would be delighted to schedule a phone call or a Skype call with your group to discuss the book. Please contact me here to arrange it.

Happy reading!

  1. Happy Saturday Kate. Looks like you have a busy book tour schedule. I went to my Walmart yesterday that's supposed to have the books. Alas they weren't there. There were lists posted of HQ books due in the first and second distributions. Heartwarming wasn't listed. But our store is undergoing renovations. I couldn't find anyone who knew about the books. However, in spite of the fact they're now at the back corner of the store---there is more book shelf space. Hooray for that.

    1. Happy Saturday to you, too, Roz!

It is the first month our books are in Walmart stores, and I know that the appropriate people at Harlequin and at Walmart are working diligently to get our books into all the participating stores.

I regret any inconvenience anyone has experienced looking for and not finding our books in a participating store. Hopefully, they will be there next time you check.

Yes, more shelf space is a very good thing!

  4. I checked our local Barnes and Noble yesterday. Unfortunately there weren't any on the shelf, but I'll check back. Thankfully Amazon is always ready to deliver. :) Oh, the Alaskan Malamute is such a beautiful dog.

    1. Jill, thank you for checking, but our print books are available online only through Barnes and Noble. Yes, Amazon is happy to deliver!

Thank you, also, for your compliment about the Malamute. The picture is of our beloved Casper. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to him a few years ago, but he's still very much in our hearts. Owen in when Love Matters Most is loosely based on Casper.

  6. Hi! So January books are available in February at Wal-Mart? That's why no one is finding them? Just checking before I send friends to investigate. My brother-in-law used to go to the local book store and put all my books out in the front of the pockets. Isn't that cute? Wish I had a Wal-Mart nearby so I could do that for you - unfortunately I think they're all in eastern Oregon. But know your good stories will attract readers wherever they are! Go Kate, and all January authors.

  7. This is all so exciting!! I've been on the prowl looking for Heartwarming books in listed WalMart stores in my area; just 2. The managers will probably know me personally before the month of January is over...lol. Thanks for the book club questions and congratulations on the K-9 trilogy. You know how much I enjoyed When the Right One Comes Along. I'm looking forward to reading the others.

  9. Hello! I wish I'd dropped in sooner, but I babysit my granddaughter on Saturday's so I didn't get a chance to get to my computer earlier. I checked the website and the closest Walmart I can get Heartwarming books at is an hour and a half away. Luckily, the town is where my son lives, so it'll give me an excuse to go visit him more, lol. I got the January box set and read When Love Matters Most. I loved it. A lot. I think my husband is a little jealous of Rick...ya know, cause I love him. ;)

In 2019 Canada day will be on Monday which is working day it means the weekend will be long spontaneously in 2019. happy canada day 2019, happy canada day images, canada day quotes, funny canada day messages, canada day wishes, happy canada day pictures. if anyone remembers what was happened in the last year at Canada Day, it was unluckily on Sunday which is bit harsh and unfair. But this time it is good news for everyone that this July weekend has great fun, full of celebration and a long weekend.
