Celebrating Carousel Nights by Amie Denman

Carousel Nights, the second book of the Starlight Point series is now available!

Here's a snapshot of the plot:

Every first love deserves a second chance.
In the second book of the series, June Hamilton has come home to revamp the live shows and theaters of Starlight Point. She's not planning to stay, but the sweet sounds and sights of Starlight Point draw her right back where she started.

As a...ahem...professional author, how did I  celebrate the release of a book about an amusement park? Like this:

On the release day of Carousel Nights, August 1, my family went to the local amusement park that inspired my Starlight Point series. Can you believe I got my teenagers to ride the carousel with me? My 16-year-old smiled jovially and waved to people from the carousel. He's the one who took this picture of me. My 14-year-old was less enthused about making the circuit on a painted pony, but he went along with it anyway--especially since my husband had fun with it and attempted to turn the experience into a race.

After the carousel, we went to one of the live shows and watched talented college students sing and dance through a medley of popular songs. Shows like that one were part of the inspiration for the plot of Carousel Nights.

And then...we rode roller coasters until way past dark, screaming away and enjoying the lights and sounds of our favorite amusement park.

I'm excited to share a sale with you: Harlequin is offering Under the Boardwalk, the first book in the Starlight Point series, at 30% off during the month of August. It's a great way to start the series!

I hope you'll join me at Starlight Point and see why I love amusement parks and summer romance!

P.S. I'm thrilled to announce there will be a 4th Starlight Point novel next year! You'll meet the heroine of the as-yet-unnamed novel in Meet Me on the Midway which releases in December. I can't wait to continue writing this series I love!

I can't think of a better way for you to celebrate your release day than to visit an amusement park with your family.

    1. Thanks, Carol! I'm already working on book 4, and there could possibly be a book 5 and 6! I don't think I'll ever get tired of writing about a place with funnel cakes and scrambler rides.

  4. Congratulations, Amie! When I was a child, we went to Lincoln Park near New Bedford, Mass., and the carousel was my favorite thing! Are there still straight poles for the horses that don't move, and twisted ones for the ones that go up and down? Amusement parks and love are the perfect blend of fun and frivolity - and serious, life-changing stuff. Wish you great success with the book. And so happy for you on the new contract!

  5. Thanks, everyone! I love to have fun, and I hope readers will feel a fun rush when they read my books. And to answer your question, Muriel: Yes, some of the horses on that carousel in the picture go up and down, but the outside row doesn't. The horses are pretty, but I think the prettiest carousel I've been on is the one in Fantasyland in Walt Disney World. I'm going there at Christmas and will be sure to get a picture!

  6. Amie, I recently finished reading this book and so enjoyed your story. I'm loving the Starlight Point Amusement park and all of the things you show the owners having to do to keep it running. Looking forward to the accountant's story and now a fourth. Hooray.

  8. Cool beans! We're an amusement park family too. I love the carousels, but yes, with kids, there's an age where they're like, "But, Mom, it only goes one mile a day!"

    Your book sounds great.

    1. My teenagers love the roller coasters, and so do I. But I can only ride about three a day--not the twenty times in a row like when I was a teenager!
