My Real-life Strong Heroine by Laurie Tomlinson

In May, I sent my first book baby into the great, big world.

This week, I send my first real baby off to Kindergarten.

My buddy, my right-hand lady will begin all-day Spanish immersion Kindergarten. While I know my mid-day grocery store trips will be a little lonelier, I know she is entering a new world of possibility, a new mission field to spread her love and light.

And you know that, at Harlequin Heartwarming, we are all about our strong heroines. I have nothing to worry about this fierce little one, because she's always taken things in stride and adjusted to what life has thrown her way with strength, bravery, and grace. Kindergarten is going to be so much fun for my little extrovert!

Best of all? Soon she will learn how to read. I think we all know what a magical thing that will be.

Not to drown our sorrows, but to celebrate all the wonderful things our girl will learn and do, we're making these Peanut Butter Brownie Truffle Bars from the Crunchy Creamy Sweet blog

  1. Those firsts are really special, aren't they Laurie? I remember all too well walking daughter #1 to her first day of kindergarten and crying on the walk home! Needless to say, I'd gotten over that when it was time for the second daughter to start. We usually celebrate special occasions with a nice bottle of 'bubbly' and a food treat of some kind. Those peanut butter bars will definitely be added to my recipe book! All the best with your debut release!

  2. Very sweet photo! Both of them, I guess. How lovely to know she'll be learning Spanish at an age when she can still pick it up easily. Love those programs. Wish they'd been available to my own monolingual grownup kids. How wonderful to have a real baby and a book baby out in the world at the same time!

    1. Yes, I wish I had learned Spanish at that age, too. They say she'll have her high school requirements fulfilled by fourth grade!

  3. What a cute post! And you're killing me! After 3 weeks of strict dieting (per doctor orders) those Peanut butter brownie truffles look to DIE for. I must save this for when I can actually eat something.

    1. I can relate, LeAnne! Whenever I'm on elimination diets, I make a mental list of the first thing I'm going to eat -- and it changes regularly :)

  5. What a cutie!! I hope she has a wonderful first day in Kindergarten. My first just left today to head back to college (second year). Between that and deadlines, I think I'll be making those brownies today! I was fidgety...wanting something but not knowing what...and then I saw that photo. LOL, thank you!

  9. BTW everyone...I seriously went to the Crunchy Creamy Sweet site and made these brownies (I substituted gluten free flour and gluten free krispies). Delicious! Perfect with a cup of coffee. I now plan to channel my sugar and caffeine high into typing words lol. If you love Reeses you'll love these.

  12. What an exciting fall! :) She's adorable to boot... And congratulations on your release. I'm terrible at celebrating. I finished a manuscript and painted my toenails a celebratory hot pink. Does that count? LOL!

    1. That definitely counts, Patricia! Sometimes my best celebration is a much-needed nap.
