Meet Leah Mol!

Hello!

I’m Leah Mol, the newest addition to the Harlequin Heartwarming team here in Toronto. I’ve been working at Harlequin for a few years as a proofreader, and Heartwarming has long been a favourite series. Here are a few reasons I love it so much!

A Break from Busy
This summer was the busiest I’ve ever had. I travelled to both sides of Canada, finished yet another draft of my novel in progress, and had a family member in the hospital and a sick kitty at home. And in the middle of everything, I was offered a new job!
I love being busy, but sometimes all I want is to be alone with a good book. Making time for myself can be difficult—I do my own writing on breaks from work, and when I get home in the evening, there’s always something to clean or errands to run or things to take care of. So I’m very excited to be part of a team that gives people a break from their busy lives. Everyone needs to relax with a good book (or three) sometimes!
Healthy Romantic Relationships
At some point, many of us have been in an unhealthy intimate relationship—and if you don’t have a model of what to strive for, it’s not easy to tell when something isn’t right. In Heartwarming books, healthy relationships are key, and there’s no room for obsession or codependence. The characters are partners; they have their own lives, and they choose to share.
My partner and I built this bookshelf together (I held the pieces of wood while he did everything else), so I’d say we’re doing pretty well. Can you guess what the shelves are supposed to look like? Hint: We’re growing our library together, and I think it’s time to add a couple more branches. And no, I haven’t read all those books…yet.
Fantastic Friends and Family
Heartwarming books are a little longer than other Harlequin series titles, which gives authors even more opportunity to craft charming and complex characters.
And, of course, I include pets in this category. This is my cat, Leon, and he’s basically the best. (I know, I know…I’m biased. But Leon’s cat-sitter agrees, and it’s hard to argue with that.) Leon loves cuddling, stealing my water, holding hands, and pretending he’s grumpy.

Now you know a little about me, and I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you, too, Heartwarming authors and readers!

    2. Thanks, Shirley! Mine is the very rusty one—I love her, but she's not up for long distances! My partner collects bike parts and then builds them to give away; it's a never-ending project.
