However, this is 2020, and my husband decided the day after Halloween called for some cheery decorations. On Sunday, he headed to our basement and started bringing up the totes. This year, we added quite a few totes from his parents who moved into a retirement village after living in the same house for over forty years.
As a result, my It’s a Wonderful Life village is now joined with a wooden Santa Claus clacking toy. Penguins ride sleds, and snow people dot the guest bathroom.
There was one box that surprised us. This January when my husband, who I’ll call hubby, packed up the decorations, he wrote himself a note:
Hubby 2020, I wrapped up your wise men in here so they wouldn’t get broken. Hope your year was better. Hubby 2019.
One happy note is that our new dog, Linus, is quite excited at the prospect of new things to sniff. He especially likes the stockings and stuffed bells.
I’m including some pictures of some our decorations:
What about you? Have you already started decorating for the holidays? Or are you waiting until after Thanksgiving?
Broken things can’t be fixed…
Or can they?
Officer and single dad Mike Harrison doesn’t believe in second chances. Ever. That is, until he learns that his former best friend—gorgeous green-eyed car mechanic Georgie Bennett—is back in town. Unfortunately, she’s also a suspect in a recent break-in! But it’ll take an old classic car to show Mike and Georgie that almost anything can be restored with a little patience…and a whole lot of love.

Tanya, I think setting up Christmas decorations can't come soon enough in these times! We've had our Thanksgiving but frankly, I'm not yet in the mood for Christmas. Except I may make my Christmas cake soon. Congrats on your March release! Am reading "A ranger for the twins" and loving it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janice! I'm so glad you're enjoying the book. And I'm still on the fence about Christmas cards. I do but I don't want to send them out!
DeleteWhat gorgeous decorations! And that note! Maybe next year. I usually wait until after Thanksgiving, but since we're going to my daughter's house then, I might put up the tree and set a few things out before we go. That way when we return, the tree will be ready to trim.
ReplyDeleteI've told my husband that a real tree is my one request for Christmas so we do have to wait until early December for a tree. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
DeleteYou sure get into the season--so many here do. I enjoy everyone else's decorations, but don't have much of a yen for my own. But I can't believe the creativity --yours are really wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Virginia. When I met my husband, I couldn't believe how much Christmas decorations his family owned! I do love my It's a Wonderful Life village. My husband put up the village today, and tonight the glow from the lights illuminate the house on Sycamore St. and the Bailey Building and Loan. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI'm definitely getting the urge for Christmas decorating. I've already had several Christmas movies on.
ReplyDeleteJust today I thought about Christmas Vacation! I'm going to show my daughter While You Were Sleeping this year. And I love old movies so I'll also be watching Christmas in Connecticut and Miracle on 34th Street.
DeleteI have a friend who has put up her Christmas tree and it's beautiful. She has ornaments that are from when her son was a boy and he's in his 50s. She's wrapped her presents but is waiting til closer to put them under the tree.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is very appreciative of having some of the ornaments from his aunt and we put those on the tree every year. I'm glad your friend is enjoying her tree.
