Next year marks the 150th year since the confederation of Canada, so prepare for a ton of party build-up for July 1, 2017. And at Harlequin, we’re doing our part and having a little fun with it by launching a search for the next hot #CanadianRomanticHero! (Check out Birgit Davis-Todd’s post on the Harlequin blog to announce the contest: http://bit.ly/28QAgAM.)
In brainstorming the contest, we were trying to decide who has already made it onto the list for past #CanadianRomanticHero hotties…and I confess we struggled a bit. Although the two Ryans made it, no objections: Gosling and Reynolds. And, of course, there’s our precious modern Dudley Do-Right mountie, Constable Benton Fraser, Paul Gross, from the old TV show “Due South” (look it up, younger peeps, you’ll love it). And Will McCormack from Will and Grace is actually Canadian… Who else???
In a coincidence of timing, one of the requested entries from the Heartwarming Blitz we ran in May is a Toronto author who submitted a Toronto story…about hockey, of course. What could be more Canadian than a hockey hero, I ask you? Okay, possibly the Mountie tops the goalie as quintessential Canadian hero. Debatable. Anyway, it’ll be a fun search to find out.
I’ll try to check in periodically over the course of the day…until my tee-off time at 2:45. However, we are expecting rain, in which case, the game will be off and I’ll be huddled over my computer anyway!
Happy Canada Day, Heartwarming Authors and Readers!

Happy Canada Day, Victoria! I'm voting for Ryan Reynolds now and always. I'm such a fan. Have a great weekend! HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO Kate, Karen and Amy!!!! Oh, yeah and me.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day, Victoria! I hope you get in your round of golf. I'm not the greatest golfer, but that one good shot keeps me coming back. My vote goes to Ryan Reynolds...there's just something about that smile. Happy Book Birthday to Karen, Kate, Catherine and Amy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day! And Happy Book Birthday to the authors. :) I seem to remember an old Harlequin that had a mountie on the cover. There is something about a polite man in uniform. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada, Day!! I LOVED Due South and was just thinking about trying to find it online, LOL. Thanks for the reminder! Happy release day to all the July authors. More fabulous books to add to the TBR pile!
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day. I also loved Due South!!!! I actually have all the episodes in the series recorded on VHS. LOL Guess I'll have to pull them out now. And congrats to all the authors and their new books this month.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mention of our books, Victoria. I'm thrilled to be sharing a release date with Catherine, Karen and Amy!
ReplyDeleteI hope the rain stops well before your tee-off time.
Happy Canada Day everyone!
Victoria. Good Morning! If your tee-time fails, there's always TEA time. I'd enjoy that more, anyway. Congratulations to Canada (I'm moving there if Trump is elected) and to our Heartwarming sisters who write such great books. Happy weekend, Everybody! And Happy Birthday to the USA!
ReplyDeleteSending all Canadians good thoughts for a wonderful weekend. Hope you get your tee time rain free, Victoria. I love hockey, so I look forward to the new story. It actually looks like Tucson may be getting a team---yay us. All of those men look pretty hot. Hard to choose who's best.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day! So excited for these July books (and not just because one is mine!) it's a fantastic lineup. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day, Victoria! Interesting that it's so close to our Fourth of July. Do you have all the fireworks, too? The July books look great. Congrats to the authors!
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day.
ReplyDeleteVisiting Canada is on my bucket list! Books look awesome, too.
Yay, Canada! I love visiting there--Niagara on the Lake is a favorite. One of my sons is crazy about Canada and swears he will move there some day. If I got in my kayak and started paddling across Lake Erie, perhaps I could make it in time for fireworks.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the July authors!
Happy Canada Day! Hope all Canadians have a fun, barbecue-filled day. Congratulations to the July authors. Can't wait to read your books.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day! Here's hoping the rain held off. The July books all sound wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day--I hope your weather was beautiful, too!
